 The Plot

Squishy... If I had to pinpoint a single word with which to describe our plot, it'd definitely be the word, "Squishy". Per DICTIONARY.COM, 'soft and wet', 'softly gurgling or splashing', 'emotional or sentimental', 'easily squashed'. Squishy. Though, being based on the works of Lovecraft and the Viral Horror genre, what else could it be, I guess?

All the vast, ancient, damp and fishy Lovecraftian elements, with their writhing, slimy tentacles, clicking and gibbering inhuman sounds and unknowable alien agendas whose scopes reveal the feeble capacities of the human mind to comprehend anything at all, as the self deluding jelly that it truly is, coupled with the ever popular fear of an unknown infection slowly eating away at one's own meat and mind, seem to complement each other perfectly.

We start with a typical plotline: A group of twenty somethings, while camping in the deep forest, perform an ancient ritual as a joke, and partially breach the membrane to another realm, though at first it isn't at all apparent to them. Batteries oddly drained, small time/space jumps, isolated characters' encounters with "unusual" bugs and fish… They write off the out of the ordinary events that begin to occur as being acoustical oddities, tricks of the light, hormonal surges, imagination, paranoia, and exhaustion. Then they're directly confronted by undeniably alien creatures, and a thick, yellow slime begins seeping from their fresh wounds. They must find a way back to their vehicle and escape a forest that somehow seems to want them to stay.

"All life is only a set of pictures in the brain, among which there is no difference betwixt those born of real things and those born of inward dreamings, and no cause to value the one above the other." - H.P. Lovecraft
