Momentum frenzy...

Wow... we're on fire! First, I'd like to shout a "Tekeli-li" out to the Unfilmable crew for the mention on their February 9th posting! (I'll get you more info soon, Pickman). The production team and I met with the 'mystery director' last night and it went REALLY well! He still hasn't committed, but we all had a nice 'feeling out' session/meet and greet, and he seemed pretty impressed with our progress so far. Next step, he's going to read the script again, take notes and grill my ass about it. That'll be in a couple weeks. We have actors eagerly awaiting in the wings for 3 of the 6 parts we still lack, as well. Once we get a permanent helmsman, or Ian gets through with school, we will continue with the casting process. The FORUM IS FINALLY LIVE! (yes, we reanimated it) We're planning a Street Team event to get people to begin posting onto it (Arkham Community College T as 'reward') and there's an idea brewing about adding a feature to it where people can post stories about the paranormal (H.P.-style, of course) that are currently inundating cyberspace. (Reality is definitely unraveling quicker, lately) We've got a prototype of the Gug mouth created that we'll have images of available soon. (Me with duct tape over my face) We're thinking forward to our next event. A fund raising Rave is being considered. Rachel will be meeting with some ravemeisters soon to discuss the viability of the concept. Regardless of that plan actually coming to fruition, we'd like to have some sort of event occur in the early Spring sometime. Come back often and JOIN OUR DAMN FORUM! (tantalization link per)

PS... the cheese was SWEET! SOOOO many types (bleubleubleu...)

Finally... a LOT to report.

I've been waiting until a few things fell into place here before I posted this... Sorry for the delay. I met with the below mentioned Ian, from oddityfilms, and he's read the screenplay and agreed (per timing in his personal life) to direct the 1st 20 minutes (the plan is to shoot that and use as a 'show-reel' to get funding for the rest). We've also got access to a camera from a guy named Denver Risley that's wellll within our budget (say no more). So with all that said, we've also been in contact with another director, who has just moved back to Eugene and is looking for a project (if he gets on board, then Ian will help Garren and myself with the cinematography planning, as he is (like Garren) very into Japanese horror cinema). He's (not Ian, the other) taking his time (as anyone should) to feel out our project and gage it's potential. He's directed a feature length piece that's gotten some national attention on a couple levels as well. But per his request, for now, he is remaining nameless (suspense rocks, no?). He's amazing, but has little experience with horror films (though the feature he directed is pretty tense and horrifying to me), though he's said he 'likes a challenge'. He's rereading the screenplay and meeting with the production team on Monday the 26th, so more on that later. We also have two more directors in the wings. A woman named Leslie is meeting with myself and Gwyn tomorrow. She's directed a few horror shorts and is VERY into HPL, so if the 'Mystery Director' doesn't, I'm hoping she would. If he does, I'll ask Leslie to be AD. So as you can see, we're rocketing forward. Oh and there's a cheese party tomorrow @ Health Spa & Salon, in Eugene located at 165 W 11th Avenue. It will start at 7pm... and bring some stinky cheese, dammit!

Damn the Torpedoes...!

Ok, enough bellyaching! Rachel, Amy and I had a triage meeting last night and we've decided to regroup and push forward. Now that all of our web presence proliferation ideas are congealed and poised for launch, we've decided to put that on hold and search for another director. I'm actually meeting with a fellow named Ian tonight, to get his evaluation of the Screen Play. What we want to now do is crew up a director, cast up, buy a used GL-1 and shoot the first twenty minutes for a 'rough edit show reel' that we'll use to interest investors to float the rest, hopefully by late this year. These, my friends, are the pitfalls of micro-budget independence! We've persevered for 3 1/2 years now. It's been a slow, but ever quickening (?) climb, and we've accomplished a whole HELL of a lot! Just peruse the photobucket site. The pictures there are worth THOUSANDS of hours! Simple fact is, if 'you' just keep moving 'forward', you'll eventually finish. In a way, this downturn of events has been a positive thing. It's weeded out those who have less commitment and has left a vital and tenacious core of those who will eventually be able to say, "We made this." WOOOOT!
