Campsite location confirmed...

If I were to say that Shane's roomate, Russ, Serina's BF, Ian and I dug the 5+ foot test hole on Randy's property in Pleasant Hill on Sunday, I would be technically accurate..., but Russ actually did 90% (at least) of the work. And it was cold, wet and altogether CRAPPY! This hole was to test the depth of the soil above the bedrock in a field on the property that we want to use for our campsite location, but for the pit creature to be there, it would require a depth of at least 7'. Randy was sure it was 4' and we are now certain it's at least 7. So, 9 cheers for Russ and 1 cheer for the fact that we have the definate campsite location now! Also, the newsletter issue has been resolved by our resident Webmage, Liz, so they will be sent out directly (barring any more unforeseen GoDaddy issues [their server thought it was SPAM]). There are two new actors being auditioned as I write this... (one for the part of 'Lucas' and one for 'Josh') and highlights of theirs and all others finished at this point will be available on this website soon. The final three creature models (the large ones) will begin to be crafted soon as well, with images and detals to follow shortly... so Keep Watching This Space!! (it does tricks ^.^)

Newsletter ready...

So our production assistant, Amy has finished our first newsletter and it is poised to be emailed to everyone on our list... except they all keep coming back to our GoDaddy-hosted 'info@' account with a Spam error number... D'oh! We're getting our magickal webmistress, Liz on it, and hopefully will have the issue resolved shortly. Amy has done a phenominal job on it, by the way.
We've got a crew poised to dig a 'test hole' on the property in Pleasant Hill, Or., where we hope to have the campsite location filmed, to gauge the depth of the soil for the 'Pit Creature' (we need 7' to 10' for it to work), so cross your fingers. I'd like to extend a HUGE thanks to all involved (names will be mentioned later, reflecting all who acyually show up), as it will more than likely be cold and rainy. We have a tarp on stakes to cover us and will have some whiskey to help keep away the chill, but still.... it won't be pleasant.
We have a new actress, Brandi, who will play the part of 'Sarah'. She actually looks like the sketch that out origional Art Director, Candace Barra, drew almost three years ago. We'll be posting audition highlight footage here in the next week or so, so stay tuned for that. Everyone did really well, and we have two more actors 'in que' to try out for the parts of 'Luke' and 'Josh'. We're still looking for an 'Eric'.
We've also added a cinematographer, Garren and are wooing someone who's done location work for Miramax, to be our Location Manager. Only 6 more locations to find, and we already have leeds on 3 of them.
Shooting Script and Storyboarding are stating next week as well, so we're all REALLY busy... AND we have two more possible sculpters to begin the large creature effects (the 'Octodude' [NOT a Mindflayer from the popular adventure game series...^.^] and 'Jen's' vagina, for the birthing sequence. More to come.

Benefit pix +...

The vast majority of images from the Benefit at Diablo's Downtown Lounge on 10/30 are now available here. I will be working on getting captions on a lot of these and the ones from the HPL festi over the next week or so, so you all can know who your looking at in them. The personell part of this site will have headshots added to the appropriate bios in the next few weeks as well. Per this, you may have noticed that this site is morphing here and there content/organization-wise as the ever diligent webmistress Liz gets all the areas populated and we work out the most efficient organizational methods to display it all with. We auditioned Robin Shurtz ('Nick'), Jessica Price ('Audrey') and Amy Prince ('Jen') on Saturday, and they all exceeded our expectations! (Aim low and be happily surprised) The highlights of these will be available in the "Actor's Workshop" area (coming soon) in the next week or so. More auditions are happening this and next weeks as well, and we hope to have the entire cast fleshed out soon. We've also added a cinematographer to our fold named, Garren LaRue, so Jake, he and I can now begin the Shooting Script and Storyboarding along with our 10 or so storyboard artists that I haven't even met most of yet, let alone added them to our site. (They come in 'gaggles' don't they... storyboard artists?) Matt, Jess and I will be tackling the Larva Light creature prototype in the next week or two as well, beginning our Background Effects Workshop. Watch this space!

Wow, we're busy...

A lot's happening right now, as our next phase begins... On Saturday, we're having the formal auditions with the 5 actors we already have lined up for the 7 main rolls we need to fill. Still looking for possible candidates for the roles of 'Eric' and 'Lucas'. We'll have video highlights of that available here within a couple weeks. This is the part I'm currently looking most forward to... seeing the characters with life breathed into them. *swoons in awe* "Wow." The images from the benefit will be up this weekend as well. We're also starting the 'Background Effects' workshops in a couple weeks with Matt and Jess, where we'll begin creating the incidental atmosphereic doo-dads 'hidden' here and there in the shots of the forest, a'la 'Dark Crystal'. We still seek a cinematographer, but have three leads per. Once that happens Jake and I can begin the Shooting Script and Story Boards. W0ot! In a week, Jake, Matt and a few of their friends are going to dig a 'test hole' for The Pit, on the property in Pleasant Hill that we have in mind for the 'Camp Site' Location... (Images of that area are coming soon as well)... to see how deep the soil is there. It's in a low point on the side of a caldera and is at least 4' deep... but we need 7' to 10'. *crosses fingers* And on top of all that, we've found a violinist who can play Paganini, and our composer friend, Kristophari will be in town at the end of the month (he's a globe trotter based in Phoenix) with a few pieces he's composed for us. Those will be available here as well! Whew! And... More to come!

Beneficial benefit...

I'll say! And as our female lead and master of ceremonies for the night, Amy would say..., "Hell Ya"! Thank you SO SO very much to Troy, Rhonda, Joe and Ethan from the glorious Diablo's Downtown Lounge for their limitless hospitality! And thanks to all the entertainers (who actually showed up *coughs* "ITNOG!") for your donated time and talents to our event! We generated $420 (lol) for all the artist's $50 paid. We also made many many connections, including two actors up for the parts of 'Josh', and 'Sarah', a violinist, clarinet player, sculpter, and a mask maker with a LOT of life casting experience. I'll go through a self-taught, 'baptism by fire' with other effects, but encasing someone's head in stone (plaster)..., I think we need a professional. Many images were taken... now I must go through the appropriate dances needed to collect them from the camera owners. I hope to have them up by December. (hehehe) Our MySpace page is coming alone slowly but surely as well, as our tendrals slowly creep into the cyberscape. Saturday the 11th, Jake and I will be auditioning the 5 actors we already have, and thus beginning our actor's workshop. The video will be available on our site here, shortly thereafter in the Actor's Corral section. Now that our October double event promotional blitz is over, another phase is beginning! Keep your eyes peeled!
