Benefit finalized... and more!

After much heated, in depth negotiations, we've managed to assemble a group of acts that will astound and amaze far beyond the cost of the mere $5 cover fee for the Diablo's Downtown Lounge benefit on October 30th.

We have:

1) The Athiarchists - Epic/ Metal/ Punk/ Thrash/ Hardcore. Come in at 9, and get yer blood gushin'! Nuf' said...

2) The T Club - Dub/ Hip hop/ Funk. Now that you're alive again, these folks will make your movements pop and flow!

3) Two Leg Lucy - Rock/Classic Rock/ Shoe Gaze/ - Even MORE groovey rhthyms to keep you shimmying like a snake... Now with Gaye Lee Russell!!

4) SPECIAL, ULTRA, SECRET HEADLINE TBA... (yes, we do have one... this is called "suspence")... and we're ironing a couple surprises out per.

In the Diablo's part of the Downtown Lounge, we'll be featuring...

5) DJ Brian Hall - From B1 productions in P-land, this wax jock knows what the hell he's doing! If you ain't moving when his tables are, you're not there!

6) The Audio Schizophrenic - as his name implies, this guy's all over the map... You never know what he'll throw at you next, but you can always be sure that YOU'LL LOVE IT!!

7) Black Rose Burlesque - The lovely and vivatious, Dahlia Black offers a true treat... flippers of fire for frenzied flaming fun, and gothic, rubenesque, sultry, classy women who will captivate and mezmerize all who behold...

We'll also be featuring a free beer to the first 100 in, free Halloween muchies all night, examples of creature effects in progress, and other art from the film, and a free 'champagne' toast at midnight, ringing in the Dark Day of Devils and Demons and... other D... stuff. Oh, and all month, three of our beloved, talented artists, Mari Boning, Charlene Messer, and last but not least, Jamie Burress will be Downtown Lounge's featured artists of the month, with a Friday Art Walk reception at the Downtown Lounge on Friday October 6th, from 8 to 10 PM.

This is a biggun' of a post, so I'll update everything else's progress soon, later!

Nix the 911...

Alright, Serina and I (and her BF, Ian) aren't dead. She brought over a really phat respirator mask and there weren't even really any fumes that we noticed. So the images are up. It was fun and came out great!

No images yet per this, but we have the first 2 tentacle tests... holy crap, they look cool! These creatures are going to be quite adequate, it seems. *knocks wood*

I'm meeting with the T-shirt guy, Tim tomorrow to OK the artwork and pay him. He says that we should have the first twenety we're purchasing on Tuesday. I'll be making the 3" Buttons as well this week with stickers fast to follow. The site store should be ready at some point in the next few weeks, I believe. Unless there's some thing involved that will cause me to have to pay for some service, like for receiving payment or something. (I'm sure this will be the case)

We've now got a third band that's agreed to the Diablo's Downtown Lounge show. I'll spill the beans per the benefit's lineup per bands and DJ's this Wednesday, so... GO there before September 24th, and see an image of our own Hannah, one of Jake's assistants, in a Fetish Night advert. Go Hannah! And we're going to have the entire up and downstairs of the bar at our complete disposal. 5$ flat fee and the first 100 people get a free beer. Free movie/Halloween munchies all night as well.

See you there!

Getting into smooth groove...

UPDATE:

Per festi swag:

The T shirt artist has remerged from a festi, and we'll have them printed by Tuesday. I've fineggled access to a 3 inch button machine at my workplace, so we'll have buttons next week as well. Stickers coming too...

Per Effects:

Serina and I will be injecting the foam latex into the bug tomorrow. I hope we don't asphyxciate. The fumes are highly toxic. If I don't post again by the 27th at latest, call 911. Charlene is finishing off the Ocupus, which will be cast next weekend and latexed next Monday... (cutting that puppy really close) The baby will be gelatined next weekend, after the gelatine arrives.

Per Benefit:

We have two definate bands agreed and one DJ. All the names of which, I completely forget (my mind is deluged at this point). I will announce this definately, early next week when we have a complete line-up. Black Rose Burlesk will be performing though. Our female lead is their MC, and I am hoping to coax her into doing so at the benefit as well.

STAY TUNED! '^.^,

Latex Lag...

So, Serina and I poured the latex skin into the bug casting halve last night... and the center's still a little wet. It's taking too long. I should have left the plaster cast dry a little more after I had to spray the bug sculpture out of... (LONG story). I will post the images once we get them onto disk.
The T-shirt (Arkham Community College) maker is MIA. I heard tonight that he might be 'on tour'... He knows the deadline is in two weeks and I'm still waiting on an 'ok' from his graphic artist regarding whether my 'ignorant to the basics of graphic design when designed', 72 dpi image will render a decent print.
Rachel, Amy, Charlene and I met with Joe from Diablo's Downtown Lounge tonight, finalizing the benefit plans. More on that to come this weekend.

The new phone book's here...!

Ok, since our movie site is now live, I had better start to blog. Latest news:

1) We have a definite confirmation from Diablo's Downtown Lounge on Monday, October 30th as being when we invade their lower depths to screen Vampire Trailer Park, with the Star and Producer thereof, our own Robin Shurtz, present as well as 'free' beer, food, a raffle for a gift set (more details later) and plenty of 'swag'. Upstairs we'll have three bands playing free of charge, (TBA) but to get to the movie party, we're charging $5 - $10 to help pay the artists involved. We'll also have a table showcasing their contributions to the film and three will be showing original pieces all month in the upper gallery.
2) The 2nd plaster cast for a creature (the bug) is now complete. Jake and I cast the baby last weekend. The first two I've ever done, and I didn't destroy them! WOot! The upper half of the bug stuck, though, so I power sprayed the water-soluble clay from out of the plaster, but beyond that and a couple little bubbles it's fine! I'll be doing latex work on the bug this week and post images soon after.
3) Rachel and I went to her buddy, Randy's property in Pleasant Hill to scout for a campsite/other locations.... and found exACtly what we're looking for per campsite and even a couple secondary locations, like the place where Eric sees 'the bug' on a tree. Randy has 80+ acres with a fair amount of old growth, so there's plenty of big old trees through which to venture... and only 15 minutes from Eugene! That'll make all the campsite scenes so much easier to shoot!

Oh, and through some blessed networking at the September MOPAN meeting, Jake has found us a lead on a property with caves (old mine shafts, actually), as well as a couple promising cinematographers from Lane Community College.
